WORKS RULES
The following Works Rules relate to all N.J.I.C.
Staff and provide information and instructions concerning
employment at this Station.
1. THE NATIONAL AGREEMENT
Wages and working conditions are as laid down in the National Joint Industrial Council Agreement of
August, 1955, for the Electricity Supply Industry, together with any subsequent additions and amendments.
Attention is particularly drawn to the sections
which deal with:-
Rates of pay;
Holidays;
Termination of Employment;
Sick Pay Scheme.
2. NORMAL HOURS OF WORK
DAY WORKERS - The normal working week
consists of 40 hours, made up as follows:-

with a lunch break
of 45 minutes

Payment for 40 hours is also made during Holidays
and sickness to qualified workers.
SHIFT WORKERS - Normal shift hours are
arranged to give an average of 40 worked hours per
week, calculated over the complete shift cycle.

All shift workers are paid an average weekly wage
calculated on the total number of pay hours in the shift
cycles.
During Holidays and Sickness this average wage is
also paid to qualified workers.
3. TIME RECORDING
To clock in for another man is a very serious offence
and may result in dismissal.
