full particulars of the accident. While you are waiting for
First Aiders do all in your power to make the injured
person comfortable and safe from further injury.
10. FIRST AID/CIVIL DEFENCE
The permanent First Aid Room is located at the
West side of the Workshop and Stores Building. Those
interested in First Aid Work, or in qualifying as a First
Aider, should communicate with the Station Administrative
Officer or Nursing Sister for further information.
Civil Defence Teams are organised in the station.
Courses in training will be held at various times
during the year and all are invited to join one or more of
these sections.
11. SAFETY
The Central Electricity Generating Board has
published a set of Safety Rules which apply to everyone
working in the station.
You should make yourself familiar with these rules,
which are displayed at various points in the station.
Disregard of the Safety Rules may have fatal consequences.
Notices are also posted at appropriate points in the
station to give warning where:-
a) Poisonous gases may be housed;
b) Smoking is forbidden because of possibility of explosion;
c) Dangerous high voltage apparatus is located.
You should know where these areas are and take
the necessary precautions.
If you notice anything which appears to you to be
dangerous, report it at once. It will then be followed up.
Remember that you are breaking the Law if you do
not use the Safety devices and protective clothing
provided. Safety boots and shoes are available at most
advantageous terms. In your own interest, take advantage
of this offer. Enquire at the Wages Office.
12. FIRE
You must make yourself familiar with the location
and types of fire fighting equipment available in the station.
